As of 12/29/07 there are two ranks of sack holders;

Honorary;
A sack holder who was granted that status before the 'leadership' requirements were placed. They are people who have been with the LS for some time. As of 12/29/07 it was decided that their sacks would NOT be removed, but if they wish to be placed in the primary ranks, they would have to be willing to step up the plate and lead as sack-holders were meant to do. Access to the grotto has been removed pending their individual requests to be promoted to the rank of Knight.

Knight of the Clan;
A Knight of the Clan upholds all that the clan stands for. They are a person who is always willing to help others, posseses the willingness and skill to lead others, and shows a devotion and loyalty to the clan above par.

A Knight is expected to be a leader, someone that others can look up to. They are role-models, mentors, and friends. Knights are expected to participate in LS events; on the same note, participation is NOT mandatory. We understand that not everyone's work/life schedule is the same as everyone elses! But if a Knight consistently refuses to join in on LS events when otherwise available, domotion is a possibility following a meeting of the Council.

Knights are also expected to create/lead their own events. Whether it be an RP event, a dungeon crawl, ballista day, nekkid~jeuno run, a mission run, or a 'Help' night. An event can be anything that actively promotes the unity of the LS and encourages its members to gather together in good spirit.

Knights show a level of dedication to the clan beyond that of regular members; ie. no LS hopping (except for salvage, dynamis, ect linkshells). Knights work to help the Clan grow and prosper and are unable to do that if they are frequently absent on another LS.

Knights are also responsible for the well being of the LS. If they feel that there is something going on that we, the council members, need to know about, it is their duty to inform us. They do not have the right to arbitrarily boot members without prior consent, they do have the right to post a complaint with the Council members if there is an issue. On a side note; there are exceptions to almost every rule. Sometimes, in extreme situations there is no other choice but to push the red button. This is NOT an option to be taken lightly.

Knights are expected to mentor new members they have brought into the LS. This can be as simple as making sure the new member signs up for the forums and reads reads the INFO page about the clan, or as involved as teaching a new player how to play/behave in addition to showing them the site. (on a side note; please remember to inform me via the Grotto when you have brought in a new member so that I may get them added to my FL and add them to the members section of the forums once they sign up)

A Knight is reliable and able to shoulder burdens. They are the corner stones of the LS, and need to be able to take the weight of responsibility that comes along with that position.

ABOVE ALL a Knight is expected to be impartial and to set aside anger frustration and pride and put the well being of the LS as a whole above it all. Anyone incapable of doing so is not suitable as a Knight, and this requirement should be well thought about before applying for the position.

How a Knight is made;
Knights are not sought out, and Knighthood will never be given as a reward. If you wish to be perma-sacked, then YOU must request the promotion! Please feel free to PM me regarding this if you have any questions or wish to be considered as a prospective Knight.

Generally, a member has been with the Clan for a good ammount of time before we will accept or approve an application of Knighthood. This gives us a chance to determine how suited to the position you are and shows us your dedication.

There is the possibility that you may be turned down. Reasons can vary, but it might be as simple as that we dont feel that we need any additional sack holders at this point. If this is the case, we WILL keep your name on the list for consideration till such a time as that we feel we need more Knights or you request your name be removed.

The promotion to Knighthood is decided upon by a full council, and while I can make a Presidential Veto, I generally won't. There is a reason behind the council and I will not go beyond their wishes without a very good reason.

Keep in mind that we are VERY strict about who we give over keys to the LS to. It is no insult to be turned down. We expect ALOT from our knights and if we think they are unable to handle the burden or stress we WILL NOT promote you to that position.

Following a positive decision by the council, the Knight~prospect must complete a 'Trial'; they are expected to create, organize, and lead an LS event. In the meantime, they will be granted a temporary~perma-sack. A final decision about their Knighthood will be made by the council following the completion of their 'Trial'.

When a member is accepted into the rank of Knight, a Clan gathering will be called and you will be granted your rank promotion in front of the other members as witnesses. d^_^b

If anyone has any questions regarding the rank of Knight or what is expected of them, please send me, Deid, Rad or Wee (also known as the clan council members) a PM or mssg in game.

Post Post subject: What a Knight is; in regards to the general LS populace

Reply with quote

This is a general reminder for ALL ls members.

The knights are one step down from the Council; they are our hands and eyes when we are not available. AS SUCH, when a Knight makes a request or order, then by all thats holy, you WILL LISTEN to them. Knighthood is not given lightly or frivolously and would not be given to someone immature, power-hungry, nor irresponsible. Knights are NOT the ultimate law in the ls, but they stand pretty damn close. It is their JOB to uphold LS rules and proper conduct and to step in as needed to prevent issues or stop problems before they go any further.

On that note; Knights are only people. People make mistakes, and Knights are just as open to that possibility as anyone else. so once again; if you feel that a decission by a Knight made against you was made in error, please PM me or any of the other council members.
